Torquay Museum was chosen from a big group of applicants as a host venue for spectacular touring exhibition that explores the decoding of hieroglyphs. Torbay's Maestros of Marble

On the 6th July Torquay Museum will open a small but important addition to its permanent galleries with a space dedicated to the ‘Artisans of the Torbay Marble Industry’.

D-Day 80 Exhibition Opens at Torquay Museum

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the most important global event to ever impact Torbay - D-Day. Torquay Museum is commemorating this with an exhibition about Torbay during the World War II years and the extraordinary events in South Devon that formed Operation Overlord.

The Museum’s Armada Treasure Chest worthy of any Pirate

The Museum’s donations box is a magnificent ‘Armada’ chest, a name applied to heavily reinforced strongboxes from around the 16th century. Many have tales of being acquired from the shipwrecks from Spanish Armada fleet. In reality, few have any such provenance and the Museum has never really believed the story that this chest may have once been on board an Armada ship. Until now.
