The Museum offers longer-term placements to undergraduate students wishing to gain experience of working in Museums.
General museum experience includes working with databases, data inputting, digitisation, conservation management, curatorial activities and design and display work.
For students wishing to work on archaeological collections, the material from Kents Cavern provides the opportunity to work on an exceptionally important environmental collection, sorting, identifying, and cataloguing faunal specimens relating to the important human finds and William Pengelly’s archive, which is housed in the Museum. This work is leading to a database of the Kents Cavern finds which, when complete, will be a digital resource of 20,000 records relating to one of Britain’s most important Paleolithic sites.
