As a small independent museum volunteers play an important and valued part in our museum service.
We encourage members of the community to become active volunteers.
Opportunities arise in all areas of the Museum, whether you are interested in researching collections, delivering education, working in front-of-house, assisting with special activities and events, training as a guide or lending a hand in our busy café. These are just a few examples of how you can work with us.
Volunteers are valuable members of the Museum team and will work on special tasks, which we will try to match to any special interests you have. To help the Museum in its planning, volunteers are usually asked to agree to a reasonably regular commitment of hours which we will agree together.
If you are interested in volunteering we will ask you to complete a short form giving us details of who you are and what you are interested in doing. Once we have received this we will ask you to come along to an informal meeting to discuss the opportunities available. Once you start working at the Museum you will be given an introductory tour and any special training that is required.
Being a volunteer here can be a rewarding, enjoyable and fulfilling experience and we hope you will consider working with us to help the Museum deliver an amazing experience for all our visitors.
