Torquay Museum

D-Day 80 Exhibition

This exhibition brings to life the dramatic events leading up to D-Day, the part played by the people of South Devon in this historic military operation, and the direct impact of World War II on the normally serene seaside towns of Torbay.
Visitors to the exhibition can see artefacts from World War II, many of them with Torbay connections, from an RAF uniform to an indoor “Morrison Shelter”, an American combat uniform and weapons to a Red Cross nurse’s uniform. There are audio recordings of wartime memories of Torbay, an original Luftwaffe map of Torquay, US military medals, and much more.
This exhibition is FREE with a valid Museum ticket.

Trail of Eggstraordinary Egg Facts

Eggs represent new life & rebirth and it's thought that this ancient custom became a part of Easter celebrations. Now scramble for the facts in our Eggstraordinary Egg Trail and find the egg-related animal in every gallery to complete the trail.

Science Ninjas: Bringing Hands-On Science to Everyone

Wednesday 3rd and Saturday 6th April

Ever wondered how to make a lemon battery pack, a hovercraft, or an object levitate? Come along and try it yourself with the Science Ninjas. Two days of fun, hands-on science experiments for all ages.

New Shōgun-Themed Display in Explorers Gallery

Have you been watching the amazing new series Shōgun on Disney+? We have! And to celebrate Japanese culture, we have created a small display of Japanese objects inspired by items seen in the series. From samurai swords to sake cups you don't need to leave Torquay to discover beautiful Japanese artworks. Highlights include a rare and ornate triple-barrelled matchlock gun, a portable Buddist shrine and delicately illustrated books, take some time to discover Japan in our Explorers Gallery.
