TALK: The USA Through the Eyes of the Artist Norman Rockwell
12th Nov 2024, 10:45 am
Torquay Museum Society Lecture by Janet Choules
Artist Norman Rockwell, the Saturday Evening Post’s most famous illustrator, was a master storyteller. For more than 60 years his paintings and illustrations of everyday family life and small-town events, often treated with a touch of humour, chronicled life in 20th-century America.
Lectures are free of charge to Torquay Museum Society Members but the general public are also welcome to attend - £5 per ticket, payable on the door.
*The first 12 lectures (8 October to 13 November) will be held in the Riviera Life/Home Church hall which is quite literally next door to the Museum. As some of you will recall, this move is due to the extended Summer Exhibition taking place in the Pengelly Hall. Although seating capacity is a little less than is available in Pengelly, we shall strive to ensure that all members - whether they be new, renewing or life members - are able to attend all the lectures that they want to. Non-members, however, may not always be able to gain access to the Church Hall if numbers are large. TMS Trustees will seek to manage this process in such a way as everyone stays happy. Thank you for your understanding.
For all these Lectures in the Church Hall, please come into the Museum in the normal manner to “check-in” so as we can give you appropriate advice and directions (perhaps even a “ticket”) to enable you to attend the Lecture.
