TALK: Women Artists and the Struggle for Recognition

10th Nov 2026, 10:45 am

Torquay Museum Society Lecture by Dr Chris Davies

Throughout the history of art women artists have struggled for recognition, partly due to misogyny. This talk challenges this viewpoint and will demonstrate that an eclectic range of females, from 18th century Angelica Kauffman to contemporary artists including Barbara Walker have made major contributions to the continuing development of art.

Lectures are free of charge to Torquay Museum Society Members but the general public are also welcome to attend - £5 per ticket, payable on the door.
