Home Education - Christmas-y Toys from the Past Workshop

calendar14th Dec 2023, 12:00 pm

Our workshop focuses on the different toys and games which children played with in the past including board games from Ancient Egypt and Tudor times. Children investigate the similarities and differences between toys today and those in the past and we encourage them to think about changes in living memory through handling and playing a variety of toys and games.

Children will also make their own Cup & Ball game, Angel Peg Doll figure, and sparkly Thaumatropes to take home.

The workshop is aimed at children aged 7 – 11 (KS2). Each family group requires a participating adult to remain with the children throughout.
Prompt 10am or 12.15pm (depending on your workshop booking) Health and Safety/Introduction, workshop until 12.15pm or 3pm. Lunch space available afterwards for those who wish to spend time exploring the museum before or after their workshop.
The maximum number of children per session 15, with a minimum of 12 children required for a session to run.
Cost £5 per child, adults free. Must be booked in advance.
Each person attending requires a valid museum ticket. Torquay Museum tickets last for a whole year - 20 % discount for those living with a TQ postcode.
