Torquay Museum, in association with Philip Reeve and the English Riviera Film Festival, proudly presents Gwenevere. The short film from internationally best-selling author Philip Reeve. Directed by Philip and his wife Sarah, Gwenevere was shot in locations on Dartmoor, with a cast and crew of filmmaking talent from across the South West.
The film is set in the world of King Arthur. "After her fall from grace and power, Queen Gwenevere must travel on foot to the abbey where she is to live out her remaining years. But on her way through the wilderness, she and her two companions encounter an evil knight."
Running time is 34 minutes. After the screening, Philip and Sarah will be doing a Q & A about the making of the film.
In the second part of this exciting event, Philip will be talking about his career as author and illustrator of children’s books; he is primarily known for his Mortal Engines quartet. His 2007 novel, Here Lies Arthur, based on the legendary King Arthur, won the Carnegie Medal. In recent years, he has collaborated with illustrator Sarah McIntyre on multiple award-winning books, including a series about Kevin the Roly-Poly Flying Pony and their brand-new series Adventuremice. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of Philip's talk.
Books by Philip Reeve will be available to purchase in the Museum's shop at the event and will be signed by the author himself. The Museum cafe and bar will be open before the event and during the intermission for refreshments.
