Help the Museum record the COVID-19 pandemic

Torquay Museum’s Collections represent local people, places, and events from the past preserved for future generations. However, we mustn’t forget to include the stories of today. It is important to capture these difficult times we live in. We recently discovered significant gaps in our collections when we made a temporary exhibition about the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-19. We had very little in the way of photographic records of these events.

We would like to ask the local community to take photographs of life during the current crisis and donate them to the Museum. They could show anything from empty streets and closed shops to queues in front of supermarkets and people wearing masks. They could be photographs of people helping each other, pictures of wards in the hospital and the amazing NHS staff, or any key workers supporting people and the economy.

If you have a photograph that you would like to add to our archive, email it to with the completed form you'll find below. We will accept one photograph per person and you have to have consent from all the people in the donated image. We look forward to new additions to our archive.
